Female Northern pike
Male Northern pike grow smaller than the females. Male pikes have to watch out not to be eaten by females. As for the bigger females, try to slow down your streamer when it's cold. The big lady does not want to move very fast for a small meal. Streamers are quite small compare to the real fish they catch. You will be surprised when slowing down a bit!
How to set the hook with a slow retrieve The leader tip is 1,5 m Fluorocarbon and 0,5 m shock absorbing monofilament between tip and fly line. Use your rod hand to set the hook. Follow your streamer with the top of your rod. When you feel the slightest tension, hit back warts with your el bough almost 20 cm to set the hook.

Streamer strength

You know that pike has some very sharp teeth, But have you ever take a look inside the upper jaw? That is why streamers have to be very strong.
Barbless hooks and how to land the fish No slags are allowed! Prevent the fish from jumping as much as possible. Keep firm tension between you and the fish.
